What is the Takbir (Allahu Akbar) Recited During Sacrifice and What is its Meaning?The act of sacrifice is one of the most beautiful expressions of closeness to and submission to Allah. Mentioning the name of Allah (Tasmiyyah) during the sacrifice is a commandment of the Holy Quran and a matter of great importance to Islamic scholars. Prayer Recited for Sacrifices Offered by ProxyNowadays, a significant portion of vow, aqiqah, gratitude, and obligatory sacrifices are offered by proxy. In this case, the prayer can be completed as follows:
اللّٰهُمَّ تَقَبَّلْ مِنْ (NAME)
PronunciationAllâhumme tekabbel min (name of the person giving the proxy).
Turkish MeaningO Allah! Accept this sacrifice from (name of the person giving the proxy).
Things to Consider During the SacrificeThe acceptance of the sacrifice depends not only on the prayers recited, but also on the slaughter being performed according to the procedures determined by Islam.
Immediately before the sacrifice, "Bismillahi Allahu Akbar" should be said.The animal should not be subjected to cruelty; the slaughter should be done quickly and mercifully.The person performing the slaughter must be qualified.A sharp and appropriate knife should be used.The sacrifice should be performed entirely for the sake of Allah.In organizations where the sacrifice is performed by proxy, the intention of the person giving the proxy is taken as the basis.
